Ecology

You are sure that you have heard the word "Ecology". You know this word is flooded with clipped form "Eco" in this age. My professor indicated that on his blog. The word "Ecology" changed its meanings significantly. In the now, it mean hardly a academic field but one of the service, a kind of what is consumed. From this fact, I think that the capitalism which can't develop economic without consumption don't seem to have a power to accomplish sustainable development.

Nowadays medical technologies are developing and thanks to that, a lot of people can be cured. You know, it is very wonderful thing! However, I dare say, it was only reply to a question of some disease, not solution to serious problems. I think that the solution that we want to submit is that many people can get regular checkup, if there is abnormal point the patients can get appropriate treatment and nursing care at low cost, if they be cured they can return to the society not laboriously, and finally they can make a good end with the situation that they wanted. I think these are the problem that I will tackle with design. It will be so difficult to solve because but I don't want to give up. Above picture is petunia. Its flower language is "Never give up."

In Japan, there is a universal public pension insurance system extending to all citizens. I think this is like socialism, but it's very wonderful system. The right to get appropriate medical care is very important for every human being. It is close to the right to life. Please check our activity Peace-Keeping Design, PKD projects aim to protect this right of every human in the world.

By the way, are you reading Prof.Kawasaki's blog? This blog are advising us to run away from capitalism. It is because it had been collapsed, I saw the affection of this collapse at the hospital I visited yesterday. It means the universal insurance system is collapsing. There are many patients with terminal cancer, they are bound to their bed. It is because it prevents them from falling out their bed, but it suggests the lack of nurse. This never indicate that nurses are lazy, nurses in this hospital are very very hard worker. I mean it indicate not the lack of nurse but the increase of patients. As a result, nurses are wearing out. In fact, the existing system can't last any longer. This is very difficult problem... be continued.

Design of lament

I understood a little what Prof.Kawasaki calls design of lament. Today I visited a rest home for patient with terminal cancer. They were just the people who Professor calls impairment. They were just infant, it means they can't do their things by themselves. When I walked through its hallway, I was close to crying, thinking my grandparents. I saw the ring of human life that all human beings go through impairment stage, disability stage and handicap stage when they are very young, and also go through handicap stage, disability stage and impairment stage when they are very old. I could realize it meant RINNE that is main concept of Buddhism. It will be long, be continued...

Education2

Yesterday, I changed my educational policy. In the past, I thought that children must learn basic skill of soccer, for example, sidekick and instep kick. I still have this idea, but I decided to teach why they need these skills. If there are objects in their mind they can absorb more skills. I haven't got results of this action, but I think I will get good reaction. For these reasons, I think the examinations study for Japanese university that have no objects do almost nothing.

Education

My Professor's teacher said to him "The only miraculous thing is education.", I heard from him, but I have not understood the true meaning yet.

Now I am the coach of the elementary school soccer club. My soccer skill and coaching skill is not perfect, so I don't seem to have licence to coach children. Nevertheless, I fight this situation with my effort. I will write on this blog my impression and opinion through this experience.

International Friends

Thanks to my environment, I have many international friends. From France, China, Korea, America, Netherlands, Germany and etc., they are from variety of countries.

Today, a Syrian person visited our lab, he is a student of Prof.Kawasaki's class. He has a distinct backgrounds that he was born in London, was grew in Syria, worked in Denmark and studied in France. Besides after working some years he started to study graphic design and worked as a graphic designer, and moreover after that he started to study Architecture in Japan. We are the same grade but he was older than me. However, he talk very frankly, so we could become a friend each other.

When I talk with them, always I think that they are very open-mind and they have international knowledge and experience. My professor said to us, "One of the important thing for our life is to store the mind with knowledge." Therefore, I think to go abroad has meaning for life. In addition to this, I think to devote oneself is very important, so now I must follow Prof.Kawasaki and study everything from him.

Concept

Today I had a Prof.Kawasaki's lecture. In this lecture, I studied "CONCEPT" from him. Although I have used the word "CONCEPT" easily until then, it had been only harebrained act. He stated what is concept with simple words, but I felt it was profound message.

He explained that "CONCEPT" is consist of five element, Simile, Comparison, Resemblance, Analogy and Metaphor. These elements can change into factors if they involve time axis, then "CONCEPT" can be expressed.

Above painting was introduced as a masterpiece that express its "CONCEPT". This painting that had been painted by Velazquez in mid of 16th century is wonderful at the point of expressing what he had wanted to express with five elements even more than excellent composition and very good painting skills. I couldn't understand the meanings when I looked first, but I can feel its wonderfulness a little after professor's explanation.

Although I could understand important thing in this lecture, it is different from mastering "CONCEPT". Therefore, I have to train me in this point. At first, I will brush up my work for this class based on this lecture.

Golden Ratio

We can find out beauty in nature, historic landmark, art and music.

The golden ratio is thought fundament of beauty, therefore I learned this ratio early in the day of my design learning. Many people know the golden ratio is good balance, however we don't know why it is. Ancient human beings had understood this from their experiences. It means this ratio seems to be programmed in our DNA. From this expectation, I can extract the relationship between science and beauty. i guess, this is the reason artists have to study science and also scientists have to study art.

I think, science don't need rigorous accuracy because environmental conditions are always changing. However, it doesn't have a chance for designer, because they need very precise drawing. In this case, this iPhone application will help you. This will guide you the abyss of nature and you can think real beauty. Don't miss it!!

iPhone

Today, I finally got iPhone3GS thanks to the cut of Internet cost of my house. It can make me use Internet everywhere with great touch panel interface, for examples, I can tweet in real time, and what is more, it seems to provide me new value, for instance, I can pack the real things in virtual world. My professor predicted this thing would enter the mainstream on his other blog. With having this progressive device as a start, I have to think about boundary between real and virtual, going back and forth through them.

Miniaturization

Miniaturization is very difficult, now I'm facing this problem. In the past, I underestimated this technique, because miniaturization of what is already exist doesn't seem to have any creativity, I thought it create nothing. They are probably true, however, I can't help agreeing that it has strong need and importance. It can't make the figure, but it can materialize the figure. According to this, it is important skill especially for engineers. If I want to be a real designer, I should understand this difficulty. Above picture is from TechEBlog.

Internet

My apartment will adopt cable TV for digital broadcasting, thanks to this I will be able to use free internet. I can get this infrastructure for free, nevertheless now I spend about 5,000yen every month. This incident indicate that dynamic movement of forefront become widespread and being wide-spreading break the price. From now this visible cable will despair and we will be able to get Wi-Fi everywhere. In fact, iPhone already can use Internet anywhere if you can use phone line, maybe it will be free before long. It is very wonderful thing. However, I have one question, is it good that the resource which sustain this system is only advertising revenue. I can't explain nicely but there is some doubt.

Nursing and Medical 2

In addition to design, I wrote the reason why I study many fields on previous article, on this article I write the reason why I study not only medical but nursing. The professor who I respect propound importance of nursing. Development of medical care is very speedy, thanks to this people who can be cured from seriously ill or injury are increasing. Then, after be cured, they are definitely under nursing care, and after nursing care they will be back to their home. Therefore, we need development of nursing care in the quantitative as well as the qualitative sense. For Japan that is facing a aging society problem, nursing care is very important but most engineers and designers don't realize that. Maybe there is only our lab that realize that thing at the department of engineer of Osaka university, so we have big responsibility as pioneer.

Nursing and Medical

Today, I had two meetings with Prof.Ohno and her lab's member. She is the person who I owe many things and is friend of Prof. Kawasaki. I can't tell the details of these meetings, but they were good for me about research, thesis and future. Renting her words, the nursing generation has come. When I had heard it at first, I got goose bumps. Although she is usually sedate woman, this words had a passion as well as Prof. Kawasaki's words.

As you know, there are many engineers in medical field, but my professor deny them, because they can complete nothing if without designer. Therefore, I'm studying design, science, technology and medical in addition to them I'm studying nursing too. I guess, you would think that it's too much, but I have to study them all if I want to accomplish in a field to make a medical or nursing product. ...be continued.

Thesis

Now I'm writing my master thesis. My research aims to make nursing better with design and engineering. It is our lab's fate to tackle problems about human life. As you probably know, it is too hard to write a thesis. It's because the thesis must be the perfection of logic. There must never be any defect in the thesis, if would be it could not be called a thesis. It needs correct and appropriate format and content rather than creativity, because these elements can convince others. Since I think University is the place where people get own logic, it is very important for me. Therefore, I deny graduates in economics of Osaka university who had not written a thesis.

Progressive Inclusive Design Laboratory

Today, our laboratory was taken a photo for yearbook. I'm proud of my lab, because there are super professors and superior members. I have one example. Prof.Kawasaki gave us a shout, "Why is your work so late? Now 5,000 children are dying in the world. Considering this fact, you have to realize you have no time." It gave me goose bumps, because I had to look back my daily life. He is always thinking this fact and working very hard, so he can give us a shout. Maybe there are hardly this professor who shout us like that. It's probably good for student. Regrettably, I'm very far from him, so I must keep studying, learning and training with humility and insatiability.

Twitter

It's a little late, but I focus on Twitter which is called a micro blog. I think, it is from not chat but blog that is similar to web diary to show his or her daily life to Internet. Because it is emphasize opening to public rather than sharing with neighbors. It is the result of the quest for instancy and conveniency.

I don't argue that it is good or not good, but it is clear truth that Twitter got a citizenship. According to this fact, I feel that smallness has more power than usual with the advent of Internet. Nowadays cloud computer is substantializing. It means, super computer and big cabinet will become outdated.
